Russells mislead customers

I found a Connex Swiftbook laptop on the Russells website after a Google search, at this link https://www.russells.co.za/connex-swiftbook-14-inch-with-500gb-hdd-notebook-bundle?gclid=Cj0KCQjwoaz3BRDnARIsAF1RfLfLJcrSjqUF9fV6dZJtvK2GR4SZdHfdTFiCSbRMEQmR6BXsqQhT9ZYaArswEALw_wcB

It was advertised for R2999,00. I did a search on the search bar at the top of the page and drove to the nearest store this morning to buy one.

At the store I was told at the the price on their website was for online purchases only and that the instore price was R3499,00, an extra R500. Nowhere on the webpage does it state that the price set out is for online purchases only and the webpage included a store search box to enable customers to find the nearest store.

I then returned to my office and went on to the website to make the online purchase, only to discover that they add a R300 delivery fee on to the price. So nowhere is one able to purchase the goods at the advertised price.

Anyhow, my point is that their website is misleading. If it said "Price displayed only valid for online purchase only" I would not have wasted my time going to the store to buy and bring one home.

Further to my complaint, while on the website after I had added the laptop to buy it online, to discover the extra charge, I noticed that there was a chat facility also on the webpage to talk to "Customer Support". The consultant Leonard said that they are not obliged to put on the website that the price asdvertised was for online purchases only and that the instore price was more expensive. He also said that if i had used the chat facility before going in to the store I wouldn't have wasted my trip to the store. This in itself is very poor customer support. I only saw and used the chat facility when i had a problem. I never anticipated that going in to the store to buy at the advertised price would be a problem in the first place.
