Bullying tactics without a court order

I am totally appalled by the way these people who go around repossessing Old peoples goods, according to law you need to have a court order to repossess goods bought on credit of which none was handed to. My mother-in-law had bought goods from Russells store PMB on credit and due to unforeseen circumstances her husband passed away with stage 4 lung cancer and they wanted his wife to pay off the goods to my knowledge a pensioner gets roughly R1700 pm they each get these every month but now with just one pension payout of R1700pm how is it possible for a person to survive.
