John Doris Restaurant in The Glen Mall in Gleneagle Johannesburg South on 13.04.2024

A terrible experience this visit. We were there with our children. In the children's area, the two game machines were broken and at the air field hockey table the flaps to the internal electrical components were open so that the children could reach in and hurt themselves. Neither the manager nor the operators were interested in the condition of the equipment for the children. Then we had to wait more than 45 minutes for our main course, although guests who came after us were served the main course on the table within 10 minutes. We then approached the manager who was completely overwhelmed by the situation. Not even a plate of chips for our children was served within the waiting time. We have never experienced such terrible service. The service at any street snack bar is better than in this restaurant. After talking to the manager, we canceled the order and left. Even when paying there was no understanding from the manager. The restaurant was only occupied with 6 guests so 3 tables. I don't want to know how long you have to wait when the restaurant is busier, you probably have to reserve a whole day for it. It would be helpful if the head of management would consider hiring staff who have an idea of gastronomy and not such *********** people who apparently filled up cars at the gas station yesterday. Never again this restaurant.
