Buyers Beware!

I bought a secondhand Citroen C3 Sensodrive cash for R33 000 from Johannpottrading, 51 Baviaan****rt Ave, Pretoria (Cell - ***) on 12 November 2020. The salesman Joos van Hansen (Cell - ***) assured me that there were no problems with the car. On 15 November 2020, my wife and I drove down to Margate, KZN with the car. Travelling down I was under the impression that it was a 4-speed gearbox as there was no fifth gear. On 18 November 2020, I couldn't get reverse gear or first. The car was standing in my garage. I called a local business to come and do a diagnostic test to see what was going on. The gentleman did the test and told me the following: • Clutch Actuator Counter Information Coherence - Permanent Fault • Gearbox Information Coherence - Permanent Fault • Gear Lever Signal Fault Value Incorrect - Permanent Fault • Fault in the Information Transmitted by the ABS/ESP ECU - Coherence Intermittent Cost of diagnostic test R750. Upon seeing the results, we phoned Johan Potgieter the owner of Johanpottrading, we explained the situation and wanted to know how we could resolve this matter. He was extremely rude and foulmouthed to say the least. When we mentioned the Consumer Protection Act he rep**** that he was a wholesaler and that the act did not work with him even though he has a salesman selling cars for him. After this phone call I sent an email to them and received no response. I phoned the following day again and spoke to the salesman Joos as Johan Potgieter didn't take my calls. Joos told me there was nothing he could do about the situation as he is not the owner, just the salesman. I contacted the Consumer Protection Act and they referred me to the Motor Industry Ombudsman. After reading numerous people's complaints about the poor service of the ombudsman I felt reluctant to follow that route. Is there no justice for the little guy? I am stuck with a car that doesn't run. On the salesman's business card it reads Sunward Motors Automotive Group. When I sent the same email to the Sunward Motors address I got a reply from Pieter Potgieter (a relative?) that says Johannpottrading is not part of them, they only rent an office to them. So, buyers beware! Give these guys a wide berth.
