Take the High Road

Some time ago I logged a call on the JRA website about the terrible state of the Main Road in Booysens; all the drains have sunk, some are hanging on by a little lip of tar, manhole covers missing, road sinking in several places. I included a map on which I highlighted the areas in question. Still nothing has been done. These issues are not a result of heavy rainfall; they have been like this since last year before the rainy season, which has now just exacerbated the problem. At one intersection, there is a huge hole in the middle lane and in the left lane the road is sinking severely. Very soon this entire area will collapse and then there will be only one lane to channel all the traffic, providing that doesn't collapse when the rest falls in. I drive this route every morning which is why it stands out particularly as a disaster waiting to happen.

As it is, I severely damaged my car two weeks ago whilst negotiating a trench across Baker Street - cost me over R2000 to fix. What does it take to get stuff done???!!!
