Gauteng potholes > JRA

This is for all Gauteng road users. We are all within our rights to claim for damage to rims/ tyres from JRA as a result of pothole damage. Only problem is that Jra will try and reject your claim. I have successfully raised a claim that took all of 13 months and ended with judgment in my favor at the small claims court. It unfortunately did not end there as Jra has still not paid me after 4 weeks, since judgment. I have now issued a warrant of execution via the magistrates court. To avoid any delays, I propose you do the following:- 1> take photos immediately of the potholes and rims/ tyres. 2> get the repairer to mention pothole damage on your invoice. 3> submit a claim to JRA with the following docs: a) copy of driver's licence b) copy of invoice c) obtain a letter from your insurer that you have not claimed d) a police affidavit e) JRA claim form f) photos 4> follow up with JRA, weekly. They forward the claim to their insurers. 5> immediately go to the small claims court when JRA reject your claim. 6> take a spare set of all documents and photos to court. I dealt with Caroline, Nomvula and Benedict(senior lawyer) at JRA and with Refilwe at AON insurers. Benedict is absolutely not on par and Refliwe told me that she only reads her emails every 2nd week. We are paying for road repairs via tax and a levy on the fuel price. For me the principle was important here.
