Johannesburg Hiking Club - not quite the premier hiking club when it comes to admin.

On its website, the Johannesburg Hiking Club touts itself as the premier hiking club in South Africa. The problem, however, is that it has Audrey, the club administrator, managing interactions with the public. Audrey has no people skills. When I called to query the application for permits to hike Castle Gorge which I had submitted a week ago, I was told that she is very busy, that Castle Gorge is not the only hike she manages and that she is not an automated machine. Not a great way to treat customers, Audrey! A simple "I'm sorry for not getting back to you, we have been inundated, how can I assist you going forward" would have been a much better response.

Sadly this is the only channel available to get permits for a hike.
