Unfair witholding of deposit

Good Day,<br> I signed contract on 1 July 2014 which expired on 30 June 2015. Deposit paid of R 6,300.00 and R 1,000.00 extra for water & lights, should we move they keep this to incur the cost of last mentioned. Rental Agent informed me that I'll be staying on a month-to-month basis as the property is up for sale on condition that she's willing to look out for another rental, 1st of all not in the winter time.
