Follow-Up on My Dispute with JJ Maritz & Son Mining

This is a follow-up to my initial review regarding my ongoing compensation dispute with JJ Maritz & Son Mining.

After sending a formal letter of demand via registered email on 5 July 2025, I expected the company to settle the outstanding balance of R15,250 for the damage caused by their runaway delivery truck, which crashed through my fence on 14 April 2025.

Since then, I have received a few further payments from the company, bringing the total amount paid to R8,000. While this shows some progress, it still leaves an outstanding balance of R9,250.

Unfortunately, despite the letter of demand and repeated opportunities to resolve this matter amicably, the company failed to pay the full amount owed.

As a result, I have proceeded to file the case at the Randburg Magistrate’s Court through the Small Claims process. I personally served the summons to Adel Fourie at JJ Maritz’s offices, accompanied by a police officer, on 4 July 2025. A court date has now been scheduled for 28 July 2025 at 16:30 in Courtroom 3.

It is regrettable that a matter which could have been resolved quickly and professionally has dragged on for so long, requiring formal legal action.

I will continue to pursue this case until I receive the compensation I am rightfully owed.

I am sharing this update to keep others informed of the company's handling of this situation.
