Please be careful when dealing with JHI Properties

I have various reasons to complain and have left it because unfortunately I have always had more important matters to attend to and most small problems can be ignored... My time at the premises managed by JHI has been full of problems. Problems with allocated parking, Raining in the office due to improvements made to the building, lack of access to my office due to changes in locks without ensuring that keys are provided to all tenants. I was once locked out and on a few occasions me and my staff were locked in the offices. Imagine at the end of the day and you want to go home, but you can’t and the security have no clue what to do. Unfortunately, all these are minor issues compared to the end of the term of the lease. I contacted JHI 2 months prior to the end of the lease term and indicated my intention not to renew the lease so that they were notified and could do what was required to terminate the lease. I asked if I need to provide a formal notification or if my e-mail indicating my intention to terminate the lease would be sufficient. I was referred to a person who just ignored my correspondence until the week I was about to leave the office when she provided me with a lease amendment to extend my lease. At first, there was no indication that the lease term would be respected, and I was charged for the rent. Eventually with a lot of effort and irritation this matter was resolved. But… I am not so sure it is resolved yet as for 3 months I have been following up on my deposit and have been ignored. After a lot of effort, somebody has finally told me that they will not refund my deposit as they did not do a final inspection of the premises (probably because they were on leave as they were always on leave when I tried to contact them) and I did not provide a COC as required by my lease agreement. My lease only requires me to provide a COC if I made electrical changes to the leased office as part of my tenant installation. All I ever did was paint the office and put flooring in the office and I went to great lengths to ensure that all this was approved or my tenant installation would not be paid according to the lease agreement. All electrical work was done by the landlord before I moved into the premises or existed as I did not require any electrical work as we only use computers and the existing plugs were satisfactory. I now find myself in a position where JHI want to keep my deposit in contravention of the lease agreement, but they are sticking to the requirement that I provide a COC for an office even though the requirement for the COC is only in case of tenant installations. All electricians contacted say they cannot issue a COC as they need a COC for the building as my office shares switches with other offices. The building we occupied has been sold in the period that I occupied the offices and I assume that this would not have been done without a COC. I however have not been provided with the COC by the landlord as they are ignoring my requests. Probably because they are on leave. This seems like a way to keep the deposit and it seems like they are ignoring that the terms of the lease agreement require that I provide a COC for any electrical work done during the tenant installations of which there were none. It seems like ******* to me.
