THE PRICE I was charged R25000 for a borehole in and during February 2021 and paid in full for it.

THE COMPANY AND ITS MODUS OPERANDI It does not exist. It does not employ any staff, have any equipment to dig boreholes or have a company address. The company advertises on Gumtree. His ads only has his initials J.G and number *** - NOTHING ELSE His ID Number is: 8405** 52** 08*. His bank account details are: ABSA, Account number: 9353***610 So please be on the lookout for these details.

It turns out that Andrew Jonathan Gallant uses foreign sub-contractors or so called "bakkie builders" to do the jobs once he is contacted after unsuspecting clients, like myself, responds to his ads on Gumtree. Further only after perusing the final invoice did I note that there is no address on the invoice. Also the subcontractors do not know where the company is situated. They also did not even know the surname of Andrew. He just contacts them and gives them an address where they are to drill.

The company advertises on Gumtree under different areas. Every few days Andrew Jonathan Gallant reposts the same ads under different suburbs of Cape Town so that his ads are always the first ones you see. His ads will be posted under the initials JG. There is no company name or address for this company on the Gumtree ad.

THE ISSUE: My borehole was pumping clay. Dark brown dirty water full of clay. The water did not clear and more and more clay was being pumped out. It turns out that the submersible was placed too deep down and into the clay. It is now stuck in the clay - advised that this is a rookie error in the industry. I have to now hire another company to rectify the issue and have been told that another borehole needs to be drilled at a possible cost of R22 500.

When the problems started to arise Andrew has now blocked me from WhatsApp, his cell-phone is off BUT he continues to advertise on Gumtree. I spoke to Richard the sub-contractor who worked on site and was kind enough to try and assist me further once the problems arose. When Richard tried to contact Andrew Jonathan Gallant to advise what the problems are, he also blocked Richard from WhatsApp. Richard has no way of contacting Andrew as well. Richard has tried to lift the pump BUT it is now stuck underground. The problem is that Richard is only the sub-contractor who was paid a pittance for the job. I paid CapeWorks Mobile Borehole Solutions R25000 for the job. Andrew Jonathan Gallant paid the sub-contractors an amount of R11000 for the job according to them. The sub-contractors then have to do all the work and buy all the materials for the job and they walk away with only R2000 profit for the job. According to Richard, Andrew Jonathan Gallant always tells them that he charges R14000 for the job hence why he can only pay them R11000. In essence Andrew pockets R14000 for the job and takes no RESPONSIBILITY !

Richard the sub-contractor will now only be able to assist me if I pay him directly to drill a further borehole as he rightfully says that my issue is between myself and Richard is only the sub-contractor. The problem is that both Richard and I cannot get hold of Andrew Jonathan Gallant. Andrew Jonathan Gallant has been paid in full for the job and it is not completed or done correctly for the price of R25 000.

IN CONCLUSION There may have been other jobs that there are satisfied customers. However, the true test of a company is their willingness to complete a job correctly after they have been paid in full. Once Andrew Jonathan Gallant was paid in full and he realized their were problems, he blocks you from WhatsApp as he knows his company is untraceable. He then also blocks the sub-contractors from contacting him. There is no willingness from Andrew John Gallant and / or CapeWorks Mobile Borehole Solutions to finish the job correctly. I am sitting with a submersible pump stuck in clay 25m underground and have no way of contacting this untraceable company. So please do not make the same mistakes I made and have to spend a substantial amount of money again to have the borehole re-done.
