Without question, this was the worst experience I've ever had with a mechanic. I had been servicing my car elsewhere for years and never had any major issues. I decided to give this workshop a chance, and I have regretted that decision ever since. I had to take my car back EIGHT separate times for the same problem, yet they still failed to fix it properly. Eight return visits for one issue is simply unacceptable and speaks for itself. Even worse, my car—which had never leaked a drop of oil before they worked on it—is now gushing oil. I am currently having to add around 2 litres of oil every week just to keep it running. My car left their workshop in significantly worse condition than when it arrived. When I tried to resolve the matter, I found the owner, Allan, to be dismissive, confrontational, and unwilling to accept responsibility - and honestly EXTREMELY UNPLEASANT. Instead of helping to fix the damage, I was left feeling blamed and brushed aside. I entrusted them with my vehicle expecting professional workmanship. Instead, I ended up with repeated failed repairs, a major oil leak, wasted time, unnecessary expense, and an incredibly frustrating experience. Based on my experience, I would strongly advise anyone considering this workshop to think very carefully before handing over their vehicle.

My experience with JFT Motors, a vehicle repair workshop based in Lansdowne, Cape Town, was extremely disappointing and I would encourage anyone considering using them to do their own research before making a decision. I initially took my Mercedes-Benz to another workshop because of a rattling noise. They diagnosed a timing-chain issue and provided a quotation. Looking for a more affordable option, I contacted JFT Motors, described the symptoms, and they also diagnosed a timing-chain problem at a lower cost. I had the vehicle transported to JFT Motors, and they replaced the timing chain. Shortly after collecting the vehicle, the check-engine light came on. I took the car to my regular garage, where I was told the fault appeared to be related to the timing-chain work. JFT Motors asked me to bring the vehicle back. During subsequent visits, I was given different explanations for the problem. First, I was told the issue was the spark plugs, which were replaced at my expense. When the fault returned, I was told the engine was old and affected by sludge. Later, I was informed that more extensive work was required. Throughout this process, I made multiple return trips because the original problem was never properly resolved. One of the most frustrating aspects of the experience was the lack of support after the initial repair. Whenever I reported that the problem had not been resolved, I was often told that the workshop had many other customers and could not immediately assist me. As a paying customer whose vehicle had already undergone major repairs, I found this response disappointing and felt that my concerns were not being treated with the urgency they deserved. What made the experience even more frustrating was the way my concerns were handled. I found communication to be poor and, at times, rude. Instead of feeling supported as a customer, I felt dismissed whenever I reported that the problem remained unresolved. The most serious issue occurred after the additional work was completed. The vehicle developed a significant oil leak, despite never having leaked oil before. When I returned to JFT Motors and asked them to investigate and correct the issue, I was told it was simply wear and tear and was quoted approximately R6,000 for repairs. I also noticed what appeared to be a hose or tube in the engine bay that had been wrapped or secured with a piece of cloth following the work that was carried out. This was not something I had observed before taking the vehicle to JFT Motors. When I raised the issue, I was told that it was normal wear and tear. However, because the condition appeared only after the vehicle had been worked on, I was concerned about the quality of the repair and whether the vehicle had been properly reassembled. What further undermined my confidence was the response I received when I questioned whether the oil leak could have been related to the work that had been carried out. I was told words to the effect that I seemed determined to blame the workshop for everything and that, in their view, I would probably attribute even an unrelated issue such as a puncture to them. I found this response dismissive and unhelpful. Given that the oil leak only appeared after extensive work had been performed on the engine, I believed it was reasonable to ask whether there could be a connection. In summary, I paid for multiple repairs, the original issue was not satisfactorily resolved, my vehicle developed a new oil leak after major work was carried out, and I was unhappy with the level of customer service I received. Based on my personal experience, I would not use JFT Motors again. Finally, I am giving this review 1 star only because there is no option to give zero stars.
