Warning: Substandard Work and Poor Leadership – Avoid JF Tar Consultants / Best Tar Service I feel it is my responsibility to warn others who may be considering the services of JF Tar Consultants, also trading as Best Tar Service. Our experience with this company was highly disappointing, marked by poor planning, substandard workmanship, and a lack of professional leadership. We contracted them to rejuvenate the tarred driveways in our complex. Ahead of the job, we held three detailed planning meetings to ensure everyone was aligned. Unfortunately, things quickly unraveled once the project began. On the first day, the team arrived several hours late and without the necessary materials to start the job. They then left for hours to purchase stock—something that should have been organized well in advance. As vehicle movement in the complex had to be tightly coordinated by the trustees, this delay disrupted the entire plan and resulted in damage to the wet tar. The second day was no better—they arrived late again and demanded a drawing (which had been declined). After that, they simply did not show up the following day. Only after intensive follow-up did they agree to resume three days later. When the work was finally carried out, the quality was unacceptable. The materials and workmanship were far below standard, to the point that we now have to bring in a different contractor to redo the job entirely. A key point discussed repeatedly in our planning meetings was the need to protect garden walls from tar splatter. This was completely ignored, and we had to repaint all the walls at our own expense after they left. Thankfully, we had the foresight to withhold part of the final payment, which somewhat mitigated the financial loss. The individuals managing this company—Jeraldo Fortuin, Marvin Lessing, and Lawrence—demonstrated poor leadership, ********* conduct, not executing the work as agreed and a clear lack of professionalism throughout the project Based on our experience, I strongly advise against using Best Tar Service / also trading as JF Tar Consultants. Their lack of preparation, poor service delivery, and unprofessional conduct caused significant disruption and financial loss. Please do your due diligence and consider alternative service providers.
