Items missing during move

I have used JC Dreyer commercially for various big furniture removals and had no complaints about their efficiency. I thus decided to use them for the move of my personal goods from one home to another in Paarl. I am so disappointed and angry as I am writing this.

During our move I had removed my jewellery box and placed it in my car with some other items to move myself, as I had precious possessions in there. When the men were moving the last bit of boxes and pieces from the truck into our new home, I made the mistake of asking them to help me carry out what was still in my car, forgetting that my jewellery box was there too.

The one worker from JC Dreyer carried out the box and walked upstairs to my bedroom to place the box in the bedroom as I had requested. I only noticed it that afternoon while setting up my bedroom that two of my rings had been removed from my jewellery box. I felt ill, as both those rings I have had for more than 25 years and I never travel with them, so that I don't loose them. As I have no physical proof that these items were taken during the move, but I feel strongly that they could only have been removed by them as they were the only people, besides my mother, who had access to it. My heart is so sore!

I immediately called JC Dreyer himself, and he was extremely rude and called me stupid for trusting other people with my jewellery. He was abusive and even suggested that my mother could also have helped herself to it. He offered no assistance. I had no choice but to leave it there as the abuse was just more disturbing after the trauma already.

As we are packing out our house, I am just hoping nothing more will have gone missing. I feel sick.

I then did a bit of research on the net and came across other complaints on this platform of people's precious belongings also going missing. I guess where there is smoke there is fire. I wish I had done my research first. I would never have used them with my prized possessions.

I will never be using their services again ever, neither will I ever recommend them to anyone.
