JBL after sale service non-existent?

My daughter got a JBL Extreme Speaker for her birthday. She loved it and her friends loved it. Sadly, the charger gave up the ghost after 18 months and we have been completely unable to find any retailers who stock replacement chargers and all JBL numbers that we have tried to contact from the web - JBL Service etc. - are defunct. So not only did the charger only last less than two years, but the after sale service does not seem to exist and the speaker is now just a sad piece of decoration without function. Apparently, others have experienced the same disappointment - or so I'm told by my daughter's friend. Not happy and would love help.
