Burn Injury at Jasmine Thai Spa: My Experience

On the 7th of September, I went to Jasmine Thai Spa for a hot stone massage. It was my fourth visit to the spa and my third massage with the same the******. Previously, she had performed two herbal compress massages on me, and I had been satisfied with her work. However, during this session, I experienced something quite distressing.

While I was enjoying my treatment and nearing the 90-minute mark, the the****** placed an extremely hot stone on my neck without testing the temperature properly. I immediately jumped due to the intense heat, and although she apologized, the damage was already done. She continued massaging my neck after that, and I assumed everything was fine as I felt no immediate pain.

However, the following week, I noticed a burning sensation whenever I app**** lotion to my neck. My skin began to discolor, and by the end of the week, I started experiencing cold chills along my neck and down my spine. On Friday, I woke up to find my neck completely dark and stiff. By Saturday, the discoloration had worsened, and on Sunday, it spread further, making it difficult for me to move my neck.

I went to work on Monday, the 16th of September, and was released early because my colleagues could see how uncomfortable I was. I kept my neck covered, but it was clear that something was wrong. I scheduled a doctor’s appointment the next day, and by then, my neck had already entered the healing phase. To my shock, my ears had also started developing scales, and my neck area had become even more discolored.

The doctor confirmed that I had sustained a first-degree, superficial burn from the hot stone. I began treatment immediately and, throughout that week, my skin started to shed due to the healing process. Distressed, I sent an email to Jasmine Thai Spa, along with pictures of my burn, to explain what had happened. While I acknowledged that the incident was not intentional, I was now left dealing with the painful repercussions of the burn.

The spa responded via WhatsApp and expressed their concern. They even said they would like to see the burns in person. I visited the spa on Wednesday to show them my injuries, and they took their own pictures. During this visit, the manager mentioned that the the****** had offered to cover my medical expenses, which I appreciated at the time.

However, after sending them the medical bills, they suddenly went silent and did not follow through on their word. Despite acknowledging the situation, they failed to honor their promise. This lack of communication and responsibility from Jasmine Thai Spa has been disappointing, to say the least.

I understand that mistakes happen, but if you’re going to acknowledge your part in causing harm, it’s only fair to support your customer through the recovery process. I have never experienced anything like this at other spas I’ve visited over the years especially my regular in East London, which I do often hot stone massages.

This is my experience with Jasmine Thai Spa, I also urge people to read their low scores on Google that should be telling on how they manage situations. I will not be scheduling any further massages this year due to this unfortunate incident
