Terrible Workmanship - Jakes The Works (Jeffreys Bay Eastern Cape)

What was supposed to have been an improvement to our home it turned out to be quite the opposite, a disaster. We employed the services of Jakes the works, a steel metal expert (so he stated) to build and install a sheet metal structure that would protect our TV which is situated above our gas fire place. Not only was the job delayed by almost 3 months, when it came to the installation he proceeded to break the unit above the fire place which houses our TV. His excuse " its made out of dry walling so it will break". The workmanship of the sheet metal structure was badly finished and of poor quality. When I asked him to fix this, again his response, "its hand made and not machine finished so hence the final result". I informed him that I wasn't happy with the job and he should fix it or remove it completely. I found him to be extremely arrogant in his response and he proceeded to remove the structure and in the process damaged the unit even further. In short, he left gaping holes in the wall from where he had fitted the structure and did not attempt to fix the damage that he created. When it came to refunding me my deposit he took 3 months to repay me and he kept 80% back. Not only is his workmanship lacking but he is also not a man of integrity.
