TUKS ******/ language issue

Rian van Heerden made a statement on the Complimentary Breakfast show this morning about doctors and how unprofessional they would be if they didn't even know the medical terms in English and did their degree in Afrikaans. I would like to inform Rian that this statement is inaccurate and that many medical students would have found this insulting towards their field of study and profession. I study BCom (Accounting Sciences) (Hons) and have quite a few friends who study MBChB. If you study MBChB (the degree to become a medical doctor) at TUKS, all of the lectures, lecture slides, textbooks or any communication with a lecturer or patient will be in English. There's absolutely no choice for Afrikaans if you study MBChB, whereas we, who study to become chartered accountants or any other profession for that matter, do have a choice to receive a lecture in Afrikaans or English, or only English, but never only Afrikaans. Many medical students would appreciate it if he could rectify his statement to the over 2 million listeners of Jacaranda FM who might become their patients one day. I would please like to remain anonymous for safety concerns.
