App**** for a loan but cannot get feedback!

I app**** for a loan 2 days ago and sent off all the documents yesterday morning. I have tried to phone today to find out what is happening but get put through to cut off calls and voice messages. Is there not any person available to help a customer on the phone? Why give a number to call for queries if you can't speak to anybody anyway??
