Very Eager to Sign Me Up, But Zero Care When I Cancel – Unacceptable

I honestly cannot believe how poorly Old Mutual has handled my cancellation request. When I first signed up for car insurance with them in April 2024, they were quick, eager, and very responsive — calling me, emailing, following up until I signed on the dotted line.

Fast forward to now, when I’ve decided to move to another provider due to better premiums — suddenly, it’s radio silence. I emailed them to cancel, clearly stating the effective end date should be 30 June 2025, since they already debited my June premium at the beginning of the month. What do I get in return? A document saying my policy has been cancelled backdated to 7 April 2024 — the date I joined them! What am I even paying for all this time?

Even worse, no one bothered to call me, ask why I’m leaving, or offer any kind of assistance. I followed up via email — no response to date. It’s clear they only care about sign-ups, not service. The contrast between how I was treated as a new customer versus now is shocking.

I’m tired, frustrated, and honestly feel disrespected. This is not how a trusted financial services provider should treat long-standing, paying customers. Absolutely disappointing. Do better.

Typical. I knew it would take a public complaint to finally get a response from you.

It’s honestly unacceptable that after I sent a clear follow-up email, which remains completely ignored to this day, the only thing that prompts action is a Hellopeter post. That alone speaks volumes about your priorities and how little you value your existing customers.
As requested, my policy number is ***. I expect a full and accurate response — not another careless mistake or silence. I hope this is escalated and that someone is actually held accountable for the appalling service I’ve received.
If I don’t receive a proper resolution, I won’t hesitate to take this further — including lodging a formal complaint with the Ombudsman.

Enough is enough.

I just went through my banking app now and to my shock, Old Mutual still went ahead and debited me for July 2025, even after confirming in writing that my policy had been cancelled effective April 2024 — the same month I joined.

So let me get this straight — you say my insurance ended more than a year ago, yet you’re still taking money from my account in July 2025? What exactly am I being charged for?

This is completely unacceptable and feels like pure negligence — or worse, intentional billing of a cancelled client. You ignored my emails, mishandled my cancellation, and now you’ve taken money with no valid policy in place?

I demand an immediate refund and a full explanation!!!
