Vehicle Accident Claim no:***
My car got involved in an accident where the driver hit a dog that was crossing the road on the 7th November 2024 in the evening. The accident happened in Modimolle and the driver was on the way to Gauteng. I called IWYZE insurance as the vehicle was insured with them, and the vehicle was towed to a Panelbeater in Bela Bela. I then received a quote to the amount of +/-R24000 from the panelbeater where the car has been towed. IWYZE insurance also send a quote to the amount of +/-R9000 with the details of a panelbeater in Wynberg Sandton where the vehicle was never taken to for inspection of damages. Since the excess as per the policy document is R12000, IWYZE informed the driver that they are rejecting the claim based on the fact that the amount for the repairs was more tham that of the excess.. I queried that with IWYZE Basing that on the fact that the quote from the panelbeater in Sandton is invalid as it was generated without thorough inspection of the car. The drivrr requested the insured to review the decision to reject the claim and have the vehicle repaired at a panelbeater where it currently based in order to avoid further delays that may be caused by towing to other repairers and also because the vehicle has already been thoroughly checked. During a call that the driver made to IWYZE,, they mentioned that their decision to reject the claim still stands, and that they are sticking to the quote that they got from the panelbeater in Wynberg Sandton. They (IWYZE) are also mention mechanical warranty which was never mentioned when starting the claim. I feel that IWYZE is running away from paying out the claim by using an invalid quote and I see this as an attempt to cheat a loyal client who has been paying premiums unfailingly every month.
Do you consider a quotation for the vehicle that was involved in an accident valid if it was generated by the repairer who has not done physical inspection on the car?
I would just like to get things cleared publicly on this platform since from my experience, I have a valid reason to believe I will be subjected to more delays, unfair treatment and biased decisions when using when using your claims objections email.
