Unfair consumer practice
My debit order was the 1st of September . I called the 2nd September to cancel the insurance on one of the vehicles . They will not refund the premiums as I didn’t give notice of 31 days . I said I didn’t know 31 days ago that I would need to cancel it as of today do not need the insurance . They said it’s in the policy documents . I don’t find this to be fair to the policy holder . To top it off I was receiving a 26 rand off my other car as a discount . The premium on the 2nd car went up with more than 75 rand just because I had cancelled the first car policy . This insurance *****s money . I don’t find it fair to the consumer that they take a full premium for a car they not insuring but quick to take from the day of inception and the month premium when you don’t start the 1st of the month . The manger simply says it’s in the policy and no one can do anything about it as I didn’t give 31 days notice . I was not aware 32 days ago I would need to cancel the policy . I was not planning on cancelling . Don’t use this insurance as they do t practise fairness to consumers . If you sell your car today hopefully you are aware 32 days before so you don’t lose out . As I then asked is my car still then ensured to the end of the month as the premium was taken no the cancellation is today and that’s it they take the premium or they can put the cancellation in but I will need to then pay 2 days for October and they will still take the premium …. Take the 2 days of September and refund me the rest as this is not fair practise at all !!
