Spouse not covered in insurance but contract says otherwise

we took out an Iwyze car insurance believing that also a spouse is covered the same as the regular driver and this is stated in the contract that was signed. Yet come claim time, Reinhardt Smit (Manager) claims that the insurance does not cover the spouse completely.
