OLD MUTUAL IWYZE HORRIFIC

About two years ago a wanted to change my insurer and thought that I rather use one of the old insurance companies instead of the newer insurers. I had a bad experience with Dial Direct in that in their policy is states that they will repair your car with either second hand spares or cheap aftermarket variants. Anyway I thought Old Mutual Iwyze because they are about the oldest insurance company in SA. Everything went well over the last few years, no problems collecting my premiums on two cars and household contents until I had a small accident on 10 June 2021. That is when the Old Mutual Iwyze started to show their true colours, as they say. I registered a claim and they offered me R8000 to repair the damage myself which was estimated by their panel beater ( Renew it) to be R 31000. I was shocked. My preferred panel beater quoted around R45000 to repair the car with all genuine BMW spares whereas Renew It told me that they would use second spares or aftermarket spares. During the call to write up the policy I asked the consultant whether Iwyze would want to repair my car using used parts or aftermarket parts. I told them that would mean no deal and that I would simply move onto another insurer who did not conform to this practice. Iwyze consultant told me that I would be able to use my preferred service provider and that they do not use second hand parts to repair. Off course with an offer of R8000 and the other prospect of having my car fixed with ******* parts which would reduce the value of my car, I was not happy and started to contest. The other thing is that both Iwyze and Renew it panel beaters have horrible reviews here on hellopeter. Anyway, it has been a month driving with a damaged car. Iwyze is not reachable by phone unless you are interested in a new policy. My emails are being ignored with no responses. The best part is that my premiums are still being deducted despite no cover being provided. I have decided to move my cars and house policies and to institute legal proceedings to repair the damage on my car. People, I have in all my life never experienced service like this from an insurance company. I would strongly advise anyone with Old Mutual Iwyze to rather move the policies to Santam or another insurance company that will be there when it is time to claim. The lack of service and unprofessionalism displayed by Old Mutual Iwyze, is truly on another level. Stay away from this company please, you will regret it
