Mirantz Technology SA --- Are Croocks

I logged a claim on 25 March 2022 for my TV and my son's Xbox one which we thought was damaged through loadshedding power surge. the details are as follows: My son was playing xbox and the power went off when the power came back on the TV had no picture or sound even though by indiction of the power light we knew it switched on. because the TV was not working we tested the xbox on another TV and the united switched on and the boys were still able to play games accept there was now no sound and a few thin red lines across the screen. I initially took the xbox to a repairer who said it was the IC that needed to be replaced at a cost of R1200. However because the TV was also broken I called my insurer and logged the claim. They sent out an accessor who collected both the TV and the Xbox. and I did not hear from the insurer until I called probably 3 weeks later and they were still busy with the claim. few months down the line I was informed that the max payment would only be R10 000. I than asked them to only pay out the TV as I thought it may be approximately R10 000 and asked them to get the repairer to send back my xbox I would have it fixed privately. Eventually I had to call the repairer who informed me that the unit was in KZN however they are based in Johannesburg??? I probably waited another 3 weeks and received a call that the unit was back in JHB and they needed to drop it off. I asked the repairer what it would cost me to repair and they gave me a quote for R2500 and I asked what this was for. I was given a run down of their interpretation of what was wrong with the unit. and I told them this was impossible as only the IC needed replacement when they collected. When the unit however was delivered to my home, It was not even switching on. And I took this up with the insurance as they unit was in a much worse condition than when it was collected at my house. After months of trying to convince the insurer that their repairer is dishonest and broke my xbox I got the run around with no calls being returned and if so they were taking the repairers report as gospel. As a paying customer with them for over 10 years this being only my 2cnd or 3rd claim they did not even request that the unit be re-assessed by someone else to infact confirm what I was saying and on 11 October they agreed to pay out the difference of the R10 000 after the TV was replaced which was R2421. I took the unit to the initial repairer who once he opened the united sent me pictures of what was wrong with the unit now. Amongst some of the smaller parts which was totally missing the hardrive was a different one. The power bottom was also replaced and the IC (initial problem) was also replaced. I have paid R2400 this time for the xbox to be fixed however I am so disgusted with Iwyse customer service as I repeatedly told them my issue is not that much that the unit was not working at all when they returned it, but that they did not even bother to look into the allegations I had against their repairer which means that this repairer who sent in a report saying the unit was irreparable ????? which is now repaired and working. And also came back in a worse state as initially handed over to them. I still feel that Iwyse should have done more regarding my issue and their dishonest repairer which is Merantz Technology SA.
