Iwyze - Extremelly Bad Service

Good afternoon,

It was on Wednesday, the 25th of January, between 21h00 and 21h30, when I was driving home from work when suddenly this guy driving on my right hand side bumped onto my car , front side, while attempting to turn left on the 4 lane road towards the CBD, in Arcadia, Pretoria.

After everything was done ( engaging with the police and medical teams on the scene) The tow-in-service guy asked if he can assist me with towing, I told him that I can never allow anything like that until I call and check/verify with my insurance ( I did so because I just wanted to be sure of what my policy entails because, in the midst of an accident, one’s mind tends to be a bit disturbed). And also, my car was , in a way, drivable the only thing was its battery died and it couldn’t move.

I did call this number (***) , at around 22h10, and spoke to a lady called Martha (phones recorded of course), she asked for my details ( full names and an identity number) She said I mustn’t allow the guy to tow me as yet until she calls back and gives authorization after verifying my policy. After a while, we called her back at around 22h35, she immediately mentioned that she was about to call back, I can allow the guy to tow me to Centurion because I am covered for that service, she asked me to give the phone to the tow-guy, she then explained to him that the tow-in-service must take my car to Centurion storage on the following morning since it’s closed tonight, they must tow it to the nearest yard/storage, that was in Pretoria West. We did all that she authorized us to do, and therefore I was dropped home by the very same tow-in-service vehicle.

The next morning, on the 26th , Thursday 2017, I called my insurance to lay a claim for the damage on my car, that’s when I was told that I am not covered for a damage on my car but only the third party, fire and theft. I asked about the tow-in-services that was permitted to me by Martha yesterday, they said that they had made a mistake by allowing me to utilize the towing/storage services as my policy do not accommodate that. They went further and said that I must see to it that I pay from my pockets, for the mistake that they had made in allowing me to be towed. Now, my questions are:

My cars battery died but the car itself was drivable, I could have used other means to get it home had I known that I’ll be paying for services authorized on me by my insurance, I DID NOT, authorize for the tow-in-service to take my car , I am not happy that I had paid for someone else’s decisions which turned to being mistakes.

1, How is it that I end up being the one who pays for a mistake done to me by Martha / Iwyze..?

2, Why can’t Martha / Iwyze, own up and pay the price to the mistake they have admitted to have done..?

I went to the Tow-in-service in the morning of Friday ,the 27th of January, and paid R1, 710.00 ,in cash.

All I did was to act under my insurance’s authorizations and decisions on my behalf. Is there a better way for us ( me & Iwyze ) to find a common resolution without including my legal assistance OR Hello Pieter service to act on my behalf and get my refund back from Iwyze..?

Hear from you, PS: I am only reachable on my mobile phone numbers (mentioned above)only as of tomorrow and Thursday this coming week.

Kind regards,
