Iwyze car insurance

Last year in September, apparently I called iwyze for a quotation as I was looking for car insurance. I am saying apparently because I don't even recall agreeing to the quotation. I eventually took Discovery as my insurer. Now in September 2022, my account is being debited for a premium of 2021. I am totally confused because I know car insurance is short term agreement , where if I don't pay my premium for the month and something happens to my car in that month, I am automatically not covered. Even if for some reason I agreed to the cover, is it not nullified by the fact that you didn't receive the first premium? I have been a customer of Old Mutual for years and I am very disappointed to have to find myself writing a bad review because of this😞😞😞
