Warning about Double Excess Charges from iWYZE Insurance I want to warn others about an unfair double excess charge I was hit with on my recent claim. The insurer app**** an additional R6,200 excess on top of the normal one, saying it was a single vehicle accident. But my vehicle was damaged by rocks and debris left on the road from another accident. This was completely out of my control and not caused by negligence. It should not be classified as a single vehicle accident that triggers double excess. I meet all the conditions to avoid extra charges: I’m over 25, have a valid licence for more than 3 years, drive a roadworthy vehicle, and my policy has been active for over 6 months. The damage happened during the day so the night-time excess does not apply. Despite this, iWYZE insists on charging me double excess without a clear explanation or providing the assessor’s report to back their decision. I have formally requested a full explanation, the claims report and a review of their decision but it is concerning how they handle claims like this. Due to this experience I would like to reduce my initial 5-star review to 1 or zero stars. If you are considering iWYZE, be cautious and double-check how they apply excess charges especially in cases involving road hazards caused by others.
