Irregular claims process, time and report from investigator
I am having a difficult time with iWyze vehicle insurance. I lent my vehicle out to someone (licenced driver) to use on the night of 21 January 2022. The person got in an accident not long after leaving the house. He explained that he had the accident swerving on the road from what he thought was a pothole, With the road being wet, he lost control of the vehicle and found himself going off the road. I went to the scene, he indicated that he had already called a towing comapny (RMI approved), in which I left while he waited. When they returned and finalised the towing by 3am, we agreed we would call the insurance company first thing in the morning. I logged a claim with iWyze on 22 January 2022 at 08:15 (am). I spoke to a consultant he logged my details; we went through their protocol. The claim went forward to the car being declared a write-off after I had sent them pictures of the vehicle and it had been sent to their partner/approved towing company. The claim was handed over to an investigator who then continued. The investigator spoke to the driver and came to see the driver and they walked the accident scene. Further the investigation and correspondence continued, around 08 February 2022. This is more than 10 days after the incident/accident. Going forward the investigator said that the marks on the vehicle, he felt, or thought did not look like the marks from the tree, and it needs to be investigated by a forensic investigator. In all this I had consented to them taking crash data from the vehicle and tracker data, stating that I am available to avail further information they needed. Going forward from the forensic investigation they came up with their internal conclusion based on assumption and no physical evidence that the vehicle crashed at two different locations within a 2 second time. This was, as they said, also based on the speed change which could be seen on the tracker which is logged 2 seconds apart. I have disputed this based on the place where the vehicle crashed is very far away compared to that point they described and sent to the driver (pictures). The time lapse of the accident is irregular • The investigator assumes a new crash position without physical evidence, even after walking the scene and looking. Investigator proceeded to tell me these are facts of the investigation. How can assumptions be facts. • They requested I go to the driver and jog their memory again, to see if they can conclude another point of contact. • The interpretation of events by the investigator are disingenuous. I do not advise iWyze as an insurance company unless you are planning to have the “perfect” or “ideal” accident. So far it does not look to me like they are protecting the consumer.
