Interesting Read on the way iWyze Operates when it comes to Claims.
1. Earlier this year I purchased a new 2023 TOYOTA HILUX 2.8 GD-6 RB LEGEND A/T P/U D/C. The sell date was 28 February 2023.
2.On the 20th of June 2023, I was involved in a car accident on the N2 where I was knocked over by a truck from behind and the vehicle fell on its side into a canal that is along the N2.
3.On the 23rd of June 2023, I logged my claim (Claim number: ***) with iWyze insurance. The claim was authorized for repairs on the 19th of July 2023.
4.On the 26th of July 2023, I wrote up to iWyze expressing my concerns about their decision of authorizing the vehicle for repairs instead of a write-off considering the extent of damage.
5.On the 4th of August 2023, I received a call from the panel beater that iWyze allocated the vehicle to. The call was to inform me that after further stripping and analysis, the vehicle has been deemed a write-off.
6. 0n the 10th of August 2023, I received an email with a letter confirming that my claim has been finalized and I had to sign the Agreement of of Loss (AOL) letter attached on email and funds due to me will be paid in my account and should reflect in 3 to 4 working days.
7.I responded on the same day (10th of August 2023) acknowledging receipt of email as well as the AOL and then requested iWyze to explain on how they determined the “value of car” as it did not make sense to me.
8.Explanation was given and I was able to see where iWyze had made an error. They had used the wrong M&M code to determine the value of the car. initial value R740 ,000.00
9.A revised AOL letter was then sent to me on the 15th of August 2023, again, letter confirmed that the claim is finalized and that I should sign and send back for payment of funds due to me. I signed the letter and sent it back as requested. Value revised from R740,000.00 to R826,400.00. This was an R86,400.00 mistake from iWyze.
10.The following day, 16th of August 2023 I received an email from iWyze that read “ Good day, Thank you for the signed AOL, please note management haven’t released the funds as there’s trigger & they have requested your payslip & application sent to the finance house. Kindly assist with that, if you can send me early today -they will attend”
11.On the same day 16th of August 2023, I responded and declined to share the above requested information as I believed it was not relevant to the claim and it was in violation of the POPI Act.
12. After declining, iWyze then sent me a “reasonable request” letter on the same day (16th of August 2023). This letter had an underlying tone of ************. I was requested to respond to it not later than 18th of August 2023, 16h30. On the letter they requested more documentation.
13. Up until now, they haven't settled my finance house and paid what is due to me. They are now grasping at straws not to pay.
14. The cherry on top: They've sold the car to the panel beater. Car is no longer in my name but I'm still paying the finance house for it. If that isn't daylight *******, I don't know what is.
15. I've also got a life insurance policy (Policy number:***) with iWyze, thanks God I've seen how they operate when it comes to paying out. I now know better; I wouldn't want to put my beloved ones through this.
16. Ladies and gentlemen, I'll keep you posted on the developments.
