Insensitive Handling of a Death Claim by iWize Insurance

I am assisting my aunt with a funeral claim following the heartbreaking passing of her son. The experience with iWize Insurance—specifically with a consultant named Kelebogile Modise—has been deeply disappointing and distressing during this already difficult time.

Despite the fact that the deceased passed away in a non-medical setting, Ms. Modise is refusing to process the claim unless full medical records are provided. This demand is not only insensitive but legally questionable. According to the National Health Act 61 of 2003, medical records are confidential and can only be accessed under specific circumstances. Furthermore, in cases where an individual did not die under medical care, such records often do not exist or are irrelevant to the cause of death.

It is unacceptable that iWize is imposing such an unrealistic and ******** burden on a grieving family, seemingly to delay or deny a valid claim.

We are requesting that this claim be finalised within 5 working days, failing which we will escalate the matter to the Long-term Insurance Ombudsman for formal investigation and resolution.
