Excuses to avoid paying out
I claimed for Repairs on my car a couple of months back. My car was send to a auto body shop, not approved by my dealer, they fitted my car with a aftermarket windscreen and aftermarket Head lights. I fought this but at the end I had to accept as they said there is nothing I can do. Now I had put in a claim for a heat pump at my home that was working perfectly fine. After the stream of loadshedding, the pump suddenly stopped working. The insurance first told me that they do not cover "components". After fighting with them and explaining that the pump is not a "component" they have accepted and understand and they say it now is covered, but they're stil not going to pay out because it is wear and tear. When a minute ago they did not even know what a heat pump was. A pump that was working perfectly fine before loadshedding is now said to have given in because of wear and tear right after the power came back on from loadshedding. Even the person who did the inspection found that the pump was in a good condition and that the failure must have been caused due to loadshedding. People who never inspected the unit decided in their offices that it is a wear and tear issue. It seems they are only looking for excuses not to pay out.
