devastating battle of insurance claim payout

I took out a comprehensive vehicle insurance policy with Iwyse in June 2023. Unfortunately, I was involved in an accident, and the vehicle was declared a total loss. Despite my policy being active and comprehensive, my claim (Claim No. ***) was rejected by Iwyse. Since then, it has been a long and frustrating battle. I have endured continuous back-and-forth with the company, which has refused to honor the claim. Instead, they've used every possible delay tactic to avoid paying out. My father, the primary driver on the policy, and I, the secondary driver, submitted all required documentation, including photos of the accident scene, promptly. Yet, weeks later, we were asked to resubmit the same images—by then outdated and no longer reflective of the actual scene. The appointed claim assessor was uncooperative and repeatedly requested irrelevant documentation. His behaviour raised serious concerns, including discriminatory conduct. The stress of this ordeal has taken a heavy toll on my family and tragically contributed to my father suffering a stroke—he is now bedridden. The insurance company’s tow-away partner collected the vehicle, yet we were later asked to submit a Power of Attorney form. Due to my father’s condition, he couldn’t sign. Following guidance from the ombudsman, we submitted a signed POA, which should have resolved the matter. But Iwyse continued to drag its feet. A lawyer is now handling our case and has issued multiple court summons, all of which the company has ignored. Communication from Iwyse has been abysmal. Rightfully expecting the full amount as per the policy. Rather than resolving the matter, they reopened the investigation and began requesting phone records, suggesting I was on a call during the accident. This invasive and irrelevant approach is clearly an attempt to avoid accountability. We are now two years into this dispute. Despite issuing final summons, there has been no resolution. Even the manager, has failed to provide meaningful feedback or action. Up to date we still have not received any payout. We demand answers: • Why has this claim taken so long to settle? • Why has there been no resolution or meaningful communication? • Why is the insurer still looking for loopholes when all requirements on our side have been fulfilled? This experience with Iwyse has been devastating. What should have been a straightforward claim under a valid, comprehensive policy has turned into a prolonged, distressing battle. We need accountability—and justice.

The The Pathetic service from Iwyze is appalling, our last requirement from Iwyze was phone records for them to find a loophole in order to not pay the claim out.

Trying to prove that I was on a call when the accident happens from my knowledge this is all you needed to finalize the case, I have completed the forms in order for them to get the records from Telkom, however now that they know they have no leg to stand on because was not on my phone when the accident happen.

Now I get the below from them asking for further details

Thanks for the attached documents. I will submit them to Telkom and keep you updated.

Our technical department has requested that Mr. Singh submit a factual step by step description of how the incident occurred on the day of the accident.

What technical department? aren’t all calls recorded? how many times is the incident supposed to provided? why can you not listen to the recordings which is on hand.

This is a ploy to get me to slip up and implicate myself in the matter so you don’t pay out?

Again, delay tack ticks, do you run a micky mouse operation with the manager being just as useless.

We just need a complete incident description and if he can remember what speed he was travelling and what the weather conditions was like.

Why? why is the recording not sufficient for you?

2 and half years later?

See below his description to me and at claims stage:

As I entered Lanham drive, in phoenix ,On my way to Westham garage, a pedestrian ran across the road , I tried to avoid the pedestrian, the car swerved I then lost control of the vehicle, the car hit the pavement and then the tree causing major damage to the vehicle, I tried calling IWyze for assistance twice @21:41 and the call kept dropping, I was taken to uMhlanga net are for medical assistance and discharged early hours of this morning after which I was able to report the case.

I have had the displeasure of working with the most useless claims assessor that has not come to a conclusion of this case because he insists on trying to find a loop hole when there is none, the most pathetic insurance company that you could ever go with , they accept your cover and then when its time to pay they don’t.

Its been 2 and half years and we still fighting the same battle, the best part is that they refuse to appear in court on numerous occasions so if you know that you are in the right why have you not showed up or responded to our lawyer?

Do you have such a pathetic legal team that cannot handle this issue at hand to come to a resolve?

How many more years is this going to take?

You are wasting our time?

When is this going to be resolved?

You have everything you keep asking for.
