**************** AND RIP-OFF of a pensioner by iWYZE!
We've had home contents' insurance with iWYZE since 2015 and at all material times up until today, the premiums were duly paid. Since then, we have never submitted a claim. Only now, our Fridge has started giving us problems. My mother, who is a pensioner and in whose name the policy is, duly submitted a claim. The first thing which was questionable in that was that my mother was first required to submit a written report of the claim and when she enquired on the necessity of that since she had lodged the claim telephonically, no explanation was forthcoming, but the request was withdrawn.
She was then told that a form would be sent to her but that was not sent. Only on or about 23 November 2022, she was asked to submit "outstanding documents" apparently through a "reasonable" request letter which required her to respond on the same day. I'm not too sure about how is it possible that someone can send a request today and expect a response today and still call that reasonable, when that same person had taken his own sweet time in even processing the claim. In any event, there were no telephonic follow ups or any follow up, up until 28 November 2022 when my mother was told that her claim had been closed owing to an alleged claim of "non-compliance with a reasonable request".
My mother is being accused on non-compliance yet she has been waiting to be sent forms which was told would be sent to her. In any event, I contacted iWYZE to enquire. To my surprise, I was told that my mother is required to procure at HER OWN COST the services of an assessor to assess the extent of the damage. I HAVE NEVER EVER HEARD OF SUCH A REQUIREMENT BY AN INSURER! The person who wants to assess and validate (or reject) a claim is IWYZE and therefore they should attend to all of that. IT COULD NEVER EVER MAKE SENSE for a claimant to be required to pay for costs of an assessor! You pay insurance so that as to cover those unexpected costs that come up at any given point. It is quite bewildering even the fact that the claim was so quickly closed yet there were no follow ups whatsoever. It begs the question as to WAS THERE REALLY AN ATTEMPT TO HAVE THIS CLAIM ASSESSED AND VALIDATED and the answer is a CLEAR NO! If iWYZE intended to do that, they would have followed up even telephonically but they clearly did not want to.
I've dealt with insurance companies but this behaviour and conduct is beyond shocking and IWYZE has the audacity to hide behind policies and procedures!
We've had policies with Old Mutual and because of this treatment that we are getting, we will be terminating our policies. A person cannot pay premiums for more than 5 years without a claim and get such a ******* TREATMENT! We have a broken fridge and the insurer that was paid for all these years is avoiding to validate our claim!
