any excuse not to pay

I logged a claim about two weeks ago. I took household insurance and when i asked if i need to specify what im insuring and how old or how many of the items in my house was i insuring, the consultant said there was no need. I have 3 tvs in my house, my plasma tv just stopped working, the light turn on but nothing else happens and the insurance company took it in for assessmen,. their assessor the found that the components on the tv stopped working and according to them it is due to wear and tear and that is not covered in the policy. In their policy doduments they do not state these things. I would not be complaining that much if this was due to neglegence on my side but it isn't and i do believe even if i had dropped the tv or hit it by mistake and it cracked or something, they would have come up with an excuse not to pay. It is totally unacceptable that companies take us customers for a ride. At the end of the day it is our hard earned money that pays for these premiums so that in times of need we dont find our selves having to spend more that we should. They should specify in plain terms what is covered and what is not, not surprise us us with rejections when we need them most. Very terrible service in deed.
