This is a fair and honest summary of what's really going on. People are stuck without power for days at
Residents of Eyethu House are currently protesting after five consecutive days without electricity. This is not an isolated incident—power outages occur almost every month—and residents are seeking clear answers from building management on a long-term solution. A formal memorandum outlining the problems and requested solutions has been prepared and shared. An email raising these concerns was also sent to management, but no response or meaningful engagement has been received. Instead of addressing the building's own preparedness, attention has been redirected toward a petition against City Power. While the municipal electricity supply is part of the problem, residents are equally concerned about the lack of support from management during prolonged outages. Other buildings under Ithemba Properties have been equipped with generators; Eyethu House has not. Given monthly rents of approximately R6,000–R8,000, residents argue they are entitled to reliable basic services and a proper backup power solution
