The Onyx - poor service

The experience I have had since moving here in Feb has been terrible. From the very first day and we have tolerated enough. This has certainly been the worst part. Having no electricity for 5 days in this cold front and there is zero remorse or resolution from the building and property management is extremely frustrating. Poor service delivery!

They have chosen to report our reviews rather than resolve the issues of poor service delivery. I am deeply disappointed in the way this property management has conducted themselves as if they are doing us tenants a favor. There is extreme gross negligence from their end and they continue to be arrogant even after multiple complaints from tenants. It's disgusting!!!

I accept that the underlying electricity outage may have been caused by a City Power network failure following the theft and damage of municipal infrastructure, and I am not suggesting that Ithemba Property caused that failure.
However, that does not address the actual issue raised in my review.
The issue is Ithemba's failure to provide the backup-power service that residents of The Onyx were led to expect when moving into the building.
When I moved into The Onyx, I was specifically told that the building had backup power and that residents would not be affected by load shedding. For a period of time, this was in fact our experience — The Onyx was able to continue operating during load shedding while neighbouring buildings were affected.
What makes the current situation particularly frustrating is that Ithemba has demonstrated that it is capable of providing comprehensive backup power at other properties. The neighbouring Sapphire and Diamond buildings have full backup-power solutions that allow their residents to continue receiving electricity during outages.
Therefore, this is not simply a complaint about a City Power outage that was outside Ithemba's control. The question is why The Onyx does not have the same level of backup-power provision as other Ithemba-managed buildings, particularly when residents were originally told that backup power was available and experienced the benefit of that arrangement themselves.
During this particular outage, residents of The Onyx were without electricity for almost a week, resulting in no hot water, food spoiling in refrigerators, and significant disruption to our daily lives. At the same time, only one of the building's four elevators was operational.
I understand that Ithemba cannot control when municipal infrastructure is damaged. However, Ithemba can control the level of backup infrastructure it provides to its buildings and the service it offers to its tenants.
That is the issue my review was raising.
If Ithemba has determined that the backup-power arrangement at The Onyx is no longer sufficient to protect residents from extended City Power outages, then residents deserve a transparent explanation of what changed, why the current provision differs from neighbouring Ithemba properties such as The Sapphire and The Diamond, and what is being done to address the situation.
Simply attributing the outage to City Power does not address that concern.
