Run the opposite direction if anyone from ithemba approaches you
UPDATE: I am still unimpressed and wish to give this ******* company. Not a single thing they do deserves a star. I had requested a month-to-month lease for a specific reason but anyway, we were given a 12-month lease after a runaround and chaos with the agent. It is quite disappointing. It took them close to a week to The new unit we received was DIRTY, When I say dirty, I mean the walls are despicable and the floors are even worse. I am someone living with OCD and that unit was deplorable. It made me miserable because no matter how much I went on my knees to scrub those floors, it was POINTLESS! I even showed the lady who came to try to convince us not to leave how dirty the floors and walls were and that was how we found them.
We had a ****roach issue that took them months to resolve. When they finally did, we were no longer held hostage by the roaches which is insane because they charged the previous tenant for fumigation so why did we need to get fumigation right after that???? They charge you exorbitant amounts for things that make no sense. Our water bill was high at some point because I reported the leaking tap and they came "to fix it" but didn't. Only when I called the second time did they put in a more permanent solution for the tap. There has been an increase in noise in the building which is extremely frustrating if you work from home. There is stomping and bangning that happens from around 6 pm to 6 am in the units around us and when we reported this, we were ignored. The building manager has recordings of the banging and texts from me at 2 a.m./3 a.m./4 a.m. complaining about the noise because it woke me up. The only time this issue was posted in the group chat was when there was a power outage and lo and behold, the person who was stomping actually STOPPED. Now imagine how quickly this could've been resolved had the building manager posted our reports on the group when we laid them like every other text he gets for the building. I raised this issue with the main office people and informed them that should this noise not be addressed, we will be forced to terminate our lease and make alternative arrangements for ourselves because it was becoming unbearable living there!!!! Like I said, that place is not good if you work from home, I would be in meetings or taking calls and clients could hear the banging and stomping. Now imagine losing your job because Ithemba and its building managers are ***********. Jesus!! This noise was not addressed and it seems to be a building-wide issue that the management is failing to address or fix hence we terminated our lease. Then all of a Sunday, Ithemba is sending people to us to "help us" regarding our issues which is pointless because I have complained about the same thing for 3+ months, Why did they only decide to take action when we terminated the lease? We were suddenly being offered a new unit, discounts on rent, etc (every single perk in the book mabhabha!!) LOL We then requested an exit inspection with the building manager who told us he'd be in meetings from 8 am but will give us an update on when we can come do the inspection. DID HE SAY ANYTHING? NOPE. We actually saw him go to the building as we were going into Shoprite and that's when he could have done the inspection with us.. When we went to the building, he watched us go up to the unit and he sat in the reception area/security guard room rather than coming up with us to do the inspection. When we returned downstairs, he eagerly rushed to grab the keys from us (which shows that he saw us go in and actively chose not to come with us) and because I actually have a job and don't sit around on my thumbs, I had to go so we gave him the keys and left. There was a reason why we requested a specific time for the exit inspection. I am so bored by these people. Thank goodness I took a video of the apartment when we moved out and sent it to the building manager. Next thing we're being told we are going to be charged over R1k for things we didn't know of and the building manager claims we "agreed" on him doing the exit inspection alone when there is no proof. For every single thing I complain about or raise, I have a paper trail to back up everything I say. Sorry kubo because they really tried to ***** over the WRONG person. The unit was not even ready for occupation when we moved in, to the point where they told us the painter would come to paint only for him to ASK US what he needed to paint. Wanna know the funny story? Now Ithemba wants to charge us R700 for painting which means they did a shabby job with that first painter and now we are being made to foot that bill instead. CRAZY SCENES. They don't even give you a statement to show the interest your deposit was accruing even though they are required to do so BY LAW. Unbelievable ****mers!
All in all, I could go on about my issues with these people but they don't deserve any more of my attention and energy. I just want to warn anybody - yes, their apartments look cute and all but it is not worth the hassle, stress, and frustration you are going to experience. I told them to take all the money they want from my deposit (which is well over R8k) but I do want a statement detailing the amounts and reasons for those amounts. If they're thinking of blacklisting us, they need to tread lightly because we will not be bul**** by them when they are ***********.
