Poor management

I app**** for a place to rent at Ithemba Property and I was proved but the rental was higher than what is has been advertised and I only realized this after paying for first month rent, deposit and lease fee but I had no signed the lease contract therefore I asked them to refund me back because I didn’t want to continue with the contract because I had mentioned I was not going to afford the rent for the unit that I was given because it was not what I initially app**** for. They took the whole month to send my refund back but they forfeited my R500 lease fee and I don’t understand why because I did not sign the lease and I did not have any agreement with them
