Management's Dishonesty

I am absolutely appauled at the treatment i have recieved as a tenant at one of the ithemba building called Eyethu House. Not only was i **** too and misinformed, but the respect i deserved as a paying tenant was destroyed. I am not happy at all on my living conditon and the attitide and disrespect ive recieved explaining my valid concerns is completely unacceptable! The problem started the day i paid the deposit to move in on May 1st. I initially wanted a large 2bedroom and clearly stated that is the only unit i wanted, and was advised that it will be available, but in the mean time i can live in a one bed which id be sharing with my roomate, for a short period of time. I opted for this as i only had a few days to move out from my precious place. I was also assured that within a week or two after moving in, i would be in the comfort of a 2 bed but that never happend. The building manager kept me informed, saying that the 2beds were not yet ready and that she will let me know as soon as they were, she reassured me that by the time the month of may eneded, everything would be in order, but that never happend. I was calm and patient with the matter, until a month and a half later when i came home one day to find the large two bed, unit 645 being occupied by tenants, and this was the unit me and my co-tenant had been waiting for. I then went into the ithemba office on sa****ay to do fingerprints and to also find out why i was still squatting in a 1bedroom when i clearly stated otherwise, and the Building manager Mpho told me she rented out the unit to people who moved in but hadnt even seen the place. Firstly that doesnt make any sense as anyone in their right mind must view a place to see if it meets their standards before settling in, so i know for a fact she was lying about that as she was trying to cover her act. She was very nonchalant about the matter and told me that when the 5th floor is ready she will occupy unit 520 and that she will put me in unit 545. This indicating that she is putting herself first as this is her building, and that i as a tenent came second even though i had been wronged. She never asked or suggested it, she was telling me. I then refused. Not only was she not listerning to the cry and the frustration i had because of her lies, she decided on a her own solution, without even considering the fact that i may not want to live on the 5th floor after 2 months of waiting for something that never came, then discovered it was taken by somebody else. Or the fact that i may want to move out completely with a refund of my deposit as everything i was assured didnt surface. I then proceeded to get furious, she proceeded to give me attitude and she asked me why i was upset at what she was telling me and why i just cant accept it, when i asked to speak to her superior or someone else she very rudely told me she is the highest form of authority and that there is no one else that can assist me. She made it clear that her position as the building manager had more power and importance than my needs as a tenent. She never even uttered the words "i am sorry" but she claimed she was apologising in a very high pitched tone while telling me about the 5th floor. My roomate tried to clam the situation, but i had agreed then and there that i am not going accept anything nonsense anymore, and that all that is left is for me to complain because then, maybe someone in their right senses will be able to assit in this matter, as only one party is benefitting from my suffering in that building.

On discussing the matter with Mpho, she has advised that she made you aware before moving in that she had no large 2 bedrooms available currently and you had agreed you would move into a 1 bed with your roommate until such time a 2 bed became available.
The tenant you are referring to who moved into the 6th floor apartment had app**** before you did and that is the only reason she was given first preference to the unit. Even though she did not physically view the flat, being a current tenant of ours she knows the service we offer and signed up to be transferred to this unit.
Mpho also advised you that there was no further 2 large bedroom flats available on the 6th floor and offered you the unit 545. Unfortunately that is the only unit available currently which she can accommodate you with.
If you would like to be allocated this unit, please feel free to stop by the office and she will make the necessary arrangements for you and your roommate to occupy the unit.
We apologise for the misunderstanding and are always willing to assist where we can.
