Little regard for clients
I lived in the Ithemba for 10 years. Despite all the problems with rude some heartless caretakers and weeks without electricity (2 weeks in June 2020), I stayed coz of affordability and proximity to work, and I paid my rent on time.
I moved out end of September, and on exit, inspection was overly charged for everything e.g. R1500 for painting, and up to now, I have not heard a single word about the remainder of my deposit. I suppose there isn't any. I know what the law says about this but I decided to let it slide. I have found a rental apartment overseas and have been requesting a reference letter since August, just stating they know me and how I was paying my rent in my tenure. At first they ignored me, then after several emails sent me a 1-page statement that is hard to follow, then I sent a WhatsApp to the caretaker he ignored it, I sent a person to the office and she was told they don't know how to write one. I sent a sample and the reply I got was that Ithemba only gives out statements. , I was defeated honestly. I wish to be enlightened as to what harm will giving a letter summarizing what's on the statement do. Surely there is a better way to treat your faithful clients, especially ones who stayed with you for 10 good years

When I wrote this review, it was an honest opinion of my service from you. I did not intend to tarnish your image but give you a chance to improve on those areas you are lacking for better client service. To my surprise, instead of trying to engage with me to solve all these issues above I receive emails that my account has been handed to lawyers and that if I do not pay I will be blacklisted. At first, I thought it was a **** but I made a follow-up to realize that you actually went through with your overpricing of items and not only did I forfeit my deposit but I now owe Ithemba close to R4000 in excess charges. To say I'm disappointed with Ithemba property is just an understatement.
Let me remind you ' It is I, your faithful client who stayed 10 good years in your property (yes first as a sub-tenant then a tenant), the one who paid the rent on time even when she did not have income during Covid19 pandemic'. The one you overcharged on exit inspection and are now threatening to blacklist'. So much for staying faithful to you.
I do not want to act on my emotions, as I feel like posting all the evidence for everyone to decide who is unreasonable. It is known that the cardboard material used for partitioning your apartments deteriorates quicker and more so if a tenant stays long in it without regular maintenance. So if the tenant leaves, do all the refurbishment costs fall on the tenant (that's the case here)? I need legal advice.
That being said I am unhappy with the way you decided we part ways. I wish you could have done better.
P.S: I'm done talking to your agents, they are very unhelpful. I am now seeking legal advice on how to handle this, I feel it's more of ************ than a fair procedure.
