Ithemba Properties

Good Day, to whom it may concern, My name is Karabo Sibaya. I used to rent a property with Ithemba Properties in Doornfontein called Vuja Dee Unit 207. My experience with the company wasn't all so bad however the admin behind it and increasing prices on a monthly basis resulted in me having to move out. I've stayed with the company for just under 1 year and 6 months, always paying my rent 5 days before the actual due date. At the beginning of our relationship, things went well over and above having problems with moving in after I had paid a deposit for my Unit moving in on a promotional deal (First month rent-free) The stay was very comfortable and suited for young people who are looking to start a career in JHB. However, I just wanted to warn the next person about minor problems with the company that might result in bigger problems in the future. The company seems to only operate digitally and has no walk-in assistance. Upon leaving the company I had to fight with the office in trying to get them to acknowledge that I wanted to move out, a process that took two months to complete because I didn't have a phone or means of accessing email. After going through some difficulties with walk-in assistance I resulted in sending a notice to move at work using work equipment. After sending notice I was told that I would be paying a penalty fee of R1500 for late communication. With that said I then decided to stay one more month to avoid any penalties and also advised my building manager Mrs. Makopi and Mrs. Nonkululeko Manqele an agent in the admin side of things. Before moving out Mrs. Nonkululeko Manqele contacted my partner to check if I was really going to move out and upon her understanding that I was serious about moving she sent a questionnaire asking me to fill it out while knowing that I didn't have the means to access email. A week before leaving I went to my Building manager to inquire as to what time I needed to be out. She advised on the last day of the month and she advised that she needed to do an inspection before 12 on that day. On the day of leaving after getting my belongings out of the unit, she saw me out and bided me farewell and that was that. After a few months of getting invoices from them, I chose to contact the office inquiring about my deposit and why I was still getting invoices from the company after having left. Mrs. Nonkululeko Manqele (Ithemba Property Management) then advised that my building manager at the time submitted that I had absconded and left the Unit/Apartment with no communication, hence why I've been still getting communication from them. She then also advised that I wouldn't be getting my deposit based on that submission and now I owe the company R1700 because my deposit was used to cover the cost of the rental fee of the apartment after I left. I've thus been trying to get a meeting with the money and the building manager as well and it's been the biggest drag with them giving me the run-around. At this point, I regret making the decision to accommodate myself with Ithemba Properties and should have seen the signs from when I had problems moving in. During my stay at Vuja Dee my fridge was ****** and Mrs. Makopi the building manager refused to show me footage nor assist with finding an answer. I honestly don't wish this for the next tent/person who might be considering doing business with them and just wanted to share my experience with everyone.
