False Credit Listing & No Accountability from Ithemba Property Management
I am extremely disappointed with the treatment I’ve received from Ithemba Property Management regarding a serious issue that affects my credit record.
I recently discovered that Ithemba listed a debt of R3,799 against my name on Experian, but none of the invoices or communication from them show this amount. I was never notified of this listing, and when I raised a dispute, I received a generic, copy-paste response that ignored my questions and incorrectly addressed me as “Marlene.” This careless handling shows a complete disregard for accuracy and legal compliance.
I’ve tried to resolve this matter professionally, but my concerns continue to be ignored. I’ve since filed a formal complaint with the Credit Ombud and the National Credit Regulator for what I believe is an unfair and potentially ******** listing.
All I have asked for is: • A breakdown or explanation of the R3,799 charge • Proper investigation of my dispute • Removal of the listing if Ithemba cannot prove it is accurate and lawful
I should not be penalised for a debt I do not recognise or for Ithemba’s failure to communicate clearly.
I urge Ithemba to treat this matter seriously and respond with accountability.
As advised; the outstanding balance is as reflected on the statement shared with you on the ticket you have logged with us is the amount that is owed and should be paid. This amount is taken from the penalty fee as per clause 3 of your lease termination terms and conditions which can be found on the signed notice form with us. The amount displayed on your Experian is the amount that is equivalent to your basic rental amount excluding all the other amounts (both fixed and variable).
However, this amount is not the amount owed to us as Experian pulls basic rental amount and displays it as the outstanding amount even when the actual amount owed is not the basic rental amount. In order for your name not to appear as owing the amount owed will be required in full. This amount is the amount on your final statement.
Sincerely
Ithemba Property

To clarify:
- Experian does not “pull” random rental values. The listed amount under my name is treated as a debt, and it is currently preventing me from securing new accommodation.
- Regardless of internal justifications, this figure has already damaged my credit profile, and your listing is actively being interpreted as money owed — which makes it ******** if no debt of R3,799 was legally invoiced.
Further:
- I still have not received a formal Section 129 notice or proper legal documentation indicating an outstanding debt. A vague Word document and email reference are not sufficient.
- You mention “Clause 3” of lease termination — yet no formal notice of breach, penalty justification, or full signed documentation has been presented in this case.
