Barlow Park has terrible building management

The estate and building itself is what’s on the pictures and is as advertised. The issue is mainly communication from the guys that manage the Estate.

The iThemba team seemed quite unprepared closer to move in date. At first everything was managed and communicated well, I think it depends on the agent you get. Mine (Ayanda) told me that the 2 bed units all have 4 plate stoves and turns out the smaller units only have a 2 plate (so I ended up with a unit with features I didn’t want). We were told there’s backup power, but they omit the fact that there won’t be power in the units, but only main areas.

Communication with residents: Comms are sent out, but not all lease holders get notified of what’s going on in the estate. So for the past week + of being here I didn’t know a lot of things. I’ve been to reception a number of times to make sure they have the correct details (and they confirmed) and I still don't know what’s what here.

No one tells you where the dustbins are, what to do when you don’t find your meter number, that back-up power is for the corridors and main areas only, where Uber pick-ups will be and where they’re allowed. This information changes every other day because I get it from security and not building management. The tenants that don’t pay for parking don’t have access to any of the ba*****t doors that require a fingerprint you have to walk in this ***** passage or walk around the estate to get to the lift lobby (this wasn’t communicated either).

It’s a pain to be told new rules by people either than management every second day. It’s very frustrating, I don’t even know when we will have access to the gym, the work area or when stores will open. They’re so unprepared, it’s making this entire experience very unpleasant when it could be sorted with a little communication and less of the lies that they tell you when you go seek answers.

Block B units (that don’t have residents yet) they’re still working on them, but you’ll find that they’ll have power in the units during load shedding. I asked why this was the case and I got told it was for the workers (this was past 8pm). While our units in block A (where everyone is) don’t have power.
