Another Power Outage.
The power outages at ABSA Towers are becoming ridiculous. We have yet another power outage after experiencing a week long power outage in October 2025. It’s such an inconvenience because whatever alternative they organise is never enough. There is not enough space in the common spaces to accommodate everyone that needs to cook, charge their devices and so forth. Ithemba is aware that we keep on having reoccurring power outages, yet they do nothing to provide an alternative that actually works during these outages.

We sincerely apologize for the power outage currently being experienced in your area and for any inconvenience this may be causing.
Please be advised that City Power has issued a communication regarding the outage. According to their report, the interruption has been caused by a flash at the substation on feeder-board 1B, which occurred due to a temporary configuration. In the interest of safety, feeder-board 4A has also been isolated while the technical team conducts a comprehensive assessment of the situation.
City Power’s teams are actively attending to the matter and are working diligently to ensure that all necessary checks and repairs are carried out before supply is safely restored. We will continue to monitor the situation closely and will provide updates as soon as further information becomes available.
The following streets and establishments are affected; Wemmer West, Wemmer Selby, Selby Central, Selby West, Selby East, Wemmer East, United Towers, Rand Daily Mail, Marshall Street West, Fox Street West, Anderson Street West , Albert Street West, Main Street West, Commission str West, Market Street West, Carlton Centre, Standard Bank Simmons Street.
