Waiting insanely long for phones

We app**** for a contract on the 22nd of December 2021. We've been waiting over 2 months now for the iPhone 13 pro max. We've made multiple calls to the call centre only to hear that there's no stock. They can't even tell us which number we are on the waiting list. Other places have stock of the phone but they only have stock for cash buyers @ the istore. How long must we still wait or should we buy something else?
