Shocking Service & Disgraceful Behaviour

For anyone considering the purchase of any Apple product... Don't!! I've just got back from the iStore in Cavendish Square, Claremont (Cape Town). A couple of years ago my husband bought me a Macbook Pro which got slower and slower. I took it into the iStore and was told it had to go in to their repair centre. When I got it back, it was unusable. It took 10 minutes to power up, but then nothing happened. When I returned to the iStore with it, they said I needed to book it in for an "appointment" so that they could reload the operating system... And no I couldn't leave it with them, I had to take it away and book it in over the phone or via the Internet at a specific time?! Today was that time. Not only did they spend 20 minutes fiddling with it "to make sure it's the OS", whilst I stood there... Only to tell me it was the OS that needed to be reloaded, but they proceeded to tell me it would cost R450. I pointed out that it was their mistake as my laptop came back from their workshop like that. The person I was dealing with apologised, shrugged his shoulders and said it was their policy.
Whilst my agonisingly painful interaction and lesson in how not to treat your customers was going on, other staff members at the same store thought it was appropriate and funny to openly make fun of and laugh at an elderly gentleman with hearing problems who was enquiring whether there was an issue with his iPhone or whether there was a way to turn the ear volume up any higher.
To say I'm disgusted with their behaviour is an understatement. I walked out with my useless Macbook Pro which will make a really good doorstop, as I was not going to hand over more money to a bunch of disrespectful, arrogant youngsters. I also felt heartsore for the elderly gentleman who was on the receiving end of their cruel school kid antics.
