Rotten Apple

After I updated the software on my apple watch the battery only lasted till midday, which meant that I would be without time the rest of the day. The other downside was that for the rest of the day my steps would not be counted to earn points toward my discovery active goal.

I took the watch for evaluation at cresta istore. I was told that unfortunately 'watch diagnostics' can not be run at an istore, it has to be sent in to the service centre. I was assured the watch is still under warranty.

Subsequently I received an email that no abnormalities could be found and that the watch will be returned. I responded to the email stating that they should explain how nothing can be wrong if the watch power does not even last half the day.

I received an email requiring replacement of the battery for R1900 - so which email should I believe - the one where it says "no problem found", or the one where they require me to pay for a battery replacement even though I was told that the watch is still under warranty??

Also - why is it acceptable that a watch only lasts 1 year? Is that what the quality of apple has come to? So be ready everyone to fork out at least R7000 every year.

Or maybe consider another fitness watch that actually lasts.

Discovery should rather not affiliate itself with the apple watch where after one year its members won't be able to use it to accumulate vitness points anymore.
