New MacBook pro faulty, Apple wants to repair instead of replace.p

<p>I am a software developer and I bought a new macbook pro 512 gb with touch bar in December 2016 to use as my main development machine. The laptop costs a staggering R 50 000 (USD 3500)</p> <p> </p> <p><br />In January 2017 it developed a dead pixel which made using it impossible, because of the following reasons:</p> <p> </p> <p><br />The dead pixels were in the area where I would type most of the time.<br />The MacBook is new, and expensive, and I expect a perfect working machine for the amount of money that I payed for it.<br />The dead pixel can be interpreted as a full stop, or a comma which is a big problem when you write software.</p> <p> </p> <p>I have taken the MacBook to apple support. I showed them the problem.</p> <p> </p> <p><br />It has been sent to the repair service provider. Core Group (http://www.core.co.za/) and I have been informed that it will be repaired. Total waiting time 17 working days.</p> <p> </p> <p><br />There are two main problems here.</p> <p> </p> <p><br />I do not have my laptop for 17 working days. That is almost a month! How must I earn a living.<br />The MacBook being only 1 month old, costing R 50 000 (USD 3500) has a defect, and I do not want a repaired laptop, I expect a MacBook in a perfect condition for that price.</p> <p> </p> <p>The main problem here is who do you speak to? Who will listen… At this point, Apple was not willing to listen to me.</p>
