iStore Woodlands' poor advice is costing me money - UNACCEPTABLE

Two problems on the same day, due to poor advice from iStore Woodlands

1. Screen connectors

I wanted to connect two screens to my Apple MacBook Air, and asked advice at the technical service counter at Woodlands iStore.

My question was: “This is what i want to do - what would you advise?”

I presented the computer and the adapters that I was already using when asking for advice.

The technician indicated that I should purchase a USB-C to HDMI adapter (R 1599), to connect to the USB-C to VGA adapter that I am already using to connect the first screen.

I proceeded to do so, but the solution did not work.

On return to the iStore, a different technician indicated that the originally proposed solution was not viable, since the 12-inch Macbook is not suficiently powered to drive more than one external screen.

I attempted to return the adapter (within the allowed returns period), but was told that this would cost me a 20% packaging cost.

Bottom line: The POOR ADVICE is now costing me in excces of R250, DUE TO NO FAULT OF MY OWN

The manager was not prepared to negotiate.

2. Incompatible Apple watch

On the same day of purchasing the adapter, I also asked for advice on an apple watch for use with my iphone.

As before, my question was: “This is what i want to do - what would you advise?”

I ended up buying an apple watch which, when I got home, was not compatable with my iPhone 6. I now need to upgrade the phone to utilise the watch. Extending the above returns policy, this return would amount to more than R 1000. If I had known earlier that the watch is not compatible, I would have made different choices.

It is UNACCEPTABLE that Apple is not prepared to be flexible on their returns policy, given that their advice is COSTING CUSTOMERS MONEY
